Display advertising to grow your business or is it big business?

With Google promoting “watch this space” so heavily, touting that it will be a $50 billion industry by 2015 as advertising dollars transition from television to display advertising. Display advertising would consist of rich media ads, like the one above for a great video production company , and video. I imagine that Google TV or services like it combining internet and television, will play a big role in getting to those estimates in a mere 5 years.

Is Video the King of Content?

Internet marketers have a saying, “Content is King”. It is not hard to make the case for content. What else is there? With all the buzz about the future of the internet and television along with portable devices, it only makes sense that video is at the forefront.
As retailers and business owners look to engage more visitors on their sites and compel them to action, they need to get their message through. The facts show that people consume more video than any other medium. Unless on the toilet, or on a plane, most hardly read “print” any longer. Most of our days are consumed by TV and internet.
If they couldn’t see it live, video is the next best choice for most. We watch video to be entertained, to learn, to veg.
Video influences our decision and our lives. That is why over $240 Billion are spent in the US alone for tv advertising.
The new interactive possibilities make video even more powerful.

If content is king, then video is surely the king of content.

Google Commerce Search – another way to dominate

Google continues to dominate search and anything related. After the success of Google Checkout, it was only a matter of time before they rolled out a hosted e commerce solution for online retail businesses. Their product video (shown above) touts that Google commerce search will increase ROI for the merchant by leveraging Google’s speed, relevance, and easy to use nature.

The cart is configurable/customizable as most carts are and allow visitors to find what they are looking for quickly.
Anyone thinking about retail ecommerce or already doing it should take a look at what Google has to offer.
To find out more, visit Google’s website on the commerce search, and even sign up for a webinar to get the scoop.

Augmented Reality Will Change Our Lives Forever.

Augmented reality will change our experiences by superimposing graphics and other sensory information into our reality.

You may have seen augmented reality years ago, but it is appearing more frequently in our everyday lives. John Mayer recently made the first video utilizing this technology. Discovery Channel had this clip from 2007 and now augmented reality is here.

Video games will surely use the technology first but there will be no end the applications and integration in our everyday lives.

Are people really “watching” video on the web?

It is interesting that most people will not watch more than an few seconds of most video on the web.  While there are definitely more people than ever viewing video on the web, it is debatable whether the message is getting through most of the time.

I am sure you have clicked on a video because the link looked inviting or someone recommended it, etc.  It starts to play and immediately you know that this is not what you wanted. I thought I had a short attention span for tv and movies….Can’t tell you the last time I actually watched a full movie.  I get bored quickly, especially if it is not doing anything for me.  That pretty much describes the internet crowd.  Terribly produced videos, or poor playback add to the frustration that is the norm.

If you are thinking about adding video to your site please do yourself a favor and get it done professionally by a firm that understands what it takes to engage your audience.

Better yet is to test and measure the results of your video and make adjustments to give the audience what they want, so you can get what you want.

Logo ideas, A great logo says alot about your business.

Never underestimate the power of a first impression. Usually the first thing anyone will see from your company is the logo.  It is unmistakeably the symbol of who you are and what you do…if it is good.  Make vs Buy?  In my situation the answer is easy. I am not overly artistic, but I always like to try myself first, sometimes good results come from trying, and sometimes you have to know when to seek help.  I usually look for inspiration from others. Here is a good site for some logo ideas. If you are inspired or just want to show off your new logos.
